Inspired....
A peak at how my inspiration process works.
In this case, it started with the spark of discovering the late 19th century photographs of young Somali men by Prince Bonaparte for the ‘Exposition Universelle, Paris 1889’. Next, I brainstorm design/product applications. The folds of their homespun garments made me think of rumpled organic bedding in cotton and linen. The neutral tones of the 1800s photography inspired the initial color palette. Lastly, stumbling upon colorful vintage Somali stamps supplied the twist and inspiration for layering on a second color palette.

Favorite Fibers: Alpaca, Cashmere & Yak
I love all three of these fibers. But… Cashmere is almost overused. Alpaca is becoming more popular. However YAK is tragically overlooked. It feels WONDERFUL. More yak wool products, please.
